"Drzewo wiadomości dobrego" - drugie miejsce w konkursie "Raz na ludowo" / "The tree of the good news" - second place in the folk contest

Kilka dni temu zakończył się konkurs Stowarzyszenia Polskiego Patchworku "Raz na ludowo". Szyłyśmy patchworki inspirowane folklorem i polską sztuką ludową.
Pierwsze miejsce zajęła Hanna Banach. Dostała nagrodę za fantastyczny patchwork "Nasze azulejos" - techniką monoprintu wydrukowała wszystkie niebieskie patchworkowe "płytki". Znakomity pomysł.

A folk contest, which was organised by the association of Polish Patchwork was finished a few days ago. We have sewn quilts which were inspired by folklore and the Polish folk art.
The winner is
Hanna Banach. She was prized for the wonderful quilt "Our azulejos". She has used monoprint technique and printed all the blue parts of her quilt. I find this idea brilliant!

Wszystkie patchworki oraz imiona i nazwiska zdobywców nagród i wyróżnień znajdziecie tutaj http://polskipatchwork.pl/index.php/2017/…/20/raz-na-ludowo/.
Gratuluję moim koleżankom, uszyły piękne i pomysłowe patchworki.

You can find all awarded pieces of art here: http://polskipatchwork.pl/index.php/2017/…/20/raz-na-ludowo/. Congratulations to all the winners! You have sewn beautiful quilts!

I was prized a second place for my "Tree of good news". I quilted my interpretation of Lower Silesian white embroidery. This kind of embroidery used to be sewn on thin white canvas or lawn. It used to be embroidered on white shirts (called "kabotki").
Inspiration for this quilt was the tree of life. All the elements of the Lower Silesian embroidery were arranged in the shape of the tree.
Quilt is 75 x 130 cm wide. It is sewn on the black fabric. It was free-hand quilted with the thickness of the thread number 30. I used no pattern to make the flowers or leaves. I produced a lot of samples to check if the parts of this pattern look good and then I used a white pencil to draw the trunk and the branches of my tree. And then i quilted and quilted...
You can find stripe-quilted frame in my quilt. I used black, very thin thread (250) to do it.

A tak wyglądał quilt w czasie szycia:

This is how my quilt looked like when I was making it:

W trakcie szycia nakręciliśmy z mężem malutki filmik. Wybaczcie potknięcia i złą jakość. To pierwsza nasza taka "produkcja".

We have recorded a short movie while quilting this work. We apologize for all the unperfections - this is our first movie production :)

Nagrodami w konkursie były: piękny kurpiowski dziewięćdziesięcioletni kilim, narzędzia do szycia patchworku i zestaw patchworkowych tkanin.
Dziękuję Fundacji Cepelia, firmie KOMA - polskiemu przedstawicielowi OLFA i firmie Lalabaj za te piękne nagrody.

There were many precious things to win in this contest: ninety years old kilim, fabrocs to produce even more quilts and some tools to sew.
Thank you Cepelia FoundationKOMA company - the Polish representative if OLFA and the Lalabaj company for all the beautiful prizes.
